This cottage has only three rooms and was once home to a family of nine. Originally the cottage would have had an earth floor, this was subsequently bricked over and later tiled. Where the cottage was originally situated, the nearest supply of fresh water was from a well that was half a mile away.
I’ll take it! Please, rent it for me, Cherie.
It would be a nice place for ‘one’ person to live
It makes me feel grateful for modern amenities!
I think the space in relation to other people would be a problem for me…
probably took all day to fill that tin bath
And it would be a cold bath :-/ and the family probably all had to share the same bathwater :-/
This is a beautiful old squatter’s cottage Cherie and you have framed your photo very well…. i would hate to have to carry the water a half mile to fill up the bath tub hanging on the outside wall lol….peter:)
It is a lovely cottage but I am not sure I would like to share it with 8 other people!!
the nearest supply of fresh water was from a well that was half a mile away
Quite a few of those still in Russia.
Are the Russian people happy with that?
I think I might squat there myself and of course Rocky…
I think you would both love the place
I would love the place too, but I wouldn’t like to share it with 8 others…
Love the bath tub!
People have bath outside in the past?
No… It was just stored outside, the bathing would be in front of the fire inside.
It is nevertheless a very attractive building, Cherie, and beautifully photograhed
It is a quaint cottage, very appealing to the eye.
It was one of my favorite buildings there at Blists Hill, Cherry. But I didn’t hear the part about a family of nine living there. I come from a family of 10, so I can just imagine what that must have been like!
I found that information out from the website. It must have been a bit like sardines in there.
