The question is not really whether or not you go on, but rather how are you going to enjoy it?

  1. Gosh. I do like that quote and find it very inspiring, and just what I need to carry in my head for the week to come. You either forgot my challenge from last week, failed it, or decided to ignore it. Whichever it was, Thanks.

    And the photograph is spectacular.

This is worrying… is it me that’s changing, or you, or the quotes? (I can always find something to worry about :)

I didn’t forget your challenge ;-) Some of the ones on my list I knew you wouldn’t agree with but then they didn’t fit the bill because I didn’t entirely agree with them either, despite the fact that my lined up quotes (in my eyes) relate to the same thing ;-)

I even looked in the following book where I had seen some related quotes:

      http://www.cheriesplace.me.uk/blog/index.php/2012/10/17/cheers-2/

On balance this was the one you were most likely to disagree with, based on your previous objections.

Soo I don’t know if it is you, or me or neither of us that is changing. I guess it doesn’t really matter, the most important thing is you found the quote inspiring and that makes me happy even though I failed my homework :-)

      • Interesting. That quote would have found my firm approval a year ago, or two years ago, so I am not changing in that respect, and indeed it is probably the one quote out of all of yours that I am most in tune with, and yet you thought I would disagree with it. Some signals getting mixed up somewhere along the line :)

I was expecting something sentimentally and assertively spiritual to make me shudder…

        • CherryPie says:

With regards to this quote, I saw it on a spiritual level but it also works on a non spiritual level.

As to my spiritual ‘beliefs’ I am not sentimental about them and I would never impose/dictate my thoughts on others. I don’t know how everything works, I am still learning…

All I can say is I have experienced some very strange things, which have not yet been explained by science. The strange things are not easily dismissed and I would welcome a scientific explanation.

          • CherryPie says:

I should have mentioned that those experiences made me more than shudder.

            • I meant that I expected the quote would be assertive (as most quotes are), not that you are or would be. There is a difference. Anyway, I continue to enjoy the challenge set by your thoughts for the week.

              • CherryPie says:

                :-)
The really assertive quotes which I think you maybe referring to never made it to my list for posting. I prefer the quotes to be a bit more subtle, but that is just me.

As to the mention of heaven and hell that you said in your reply to James. This quote doesn’t make think of that. But my views on that sort of thing aren’t typical anyway ;-)

As you said it is interesting to see how different people interpret the same words.

Wonderful thought and a beautiful picture Cherie… my answer is… life is good!….peter:)

  6. Astrid says:

Fabulous picture with a wonderful quote. Enjoy life as much as possible, look at the bright side of things, even how dark they seem to be…

  7. Ginnie says:

Attitude really is everything, Cherry, isn’t it! And the fallen leaves are part of autumn’s beauty!

  8. Suzie says:

I can’t imagine that anyone could find your thoughts for the week contentious. I’ll have to trawl through the past posts sometime!

Your challenge for next week should be to find something that you think is sure to annoy DonQui Scottie. It should be fun discovering how well you understand the other person who, presumably, you have never met. Interesting.

    • CherryPie says:

I am sure I could quite easily find a quote to fit the bill, but it is more difficult to add into the equation one that I totally agree with.

No we have never met, although we have been reading and commenting on each other’s blogs for a long time.

      • “I can’t imagine that anyone could find your thoughts for the week contentious”

Suzie – you’ve not been paying attention :)

        • Pretty much anyone who cares to comment says things like “Ah lovely”, “So true”, “beautiful words”, etc., etc., and nothing wrong with that for I am sure they mean it, but on many occasions I have tended to analyse things more critically, being a critical and cynical grump, I suppose…

  9. rusty duck says:

The quote has made me stop and think this morning. Great picture too.

  10. james higham says:

Going on is really not a choice, is it?

    • Depends on whether you view it on the non-spiritual level as I did or the spiritual level Cherie presumably refers to. A spiritual level interpretation did not even occur to me, whereas some may immediately think of the quote as describing the supposed destinations of heaven or hell. I read in the sense of the “To be or not to be” dilemma, as it might apply to such people in “just can’t take it anymore” moments. We can take from words whatever we find in them, but this means that different people may like the same words for very different reasons. All interesting.

    • CherryPie says:

I suppose that depends on which way you look at it…
