Saturday Morning

Saturday Evening

This weeks prompt was:

What do you wander past in the mornings as you go about your day?
And, when the light changes from day to dusk and descends into night,
what beauty catches your eye?
What do a morning and evening of the same day look like for you?

This was another interesting challenge, there is so much I could have explored with this idea. But I have my own challenge with daily photography, I am not allowed a camera at work and that also means I am not allowed a camera in my parked car at work. This means that I am not able to take photos on my way too and from the office, I miss so many wonderful opportunities…

At this time of year I can get great photos in the morning before I leave for work but when I return from work it is dark and my options for creative photography are limited.  But today is Saturday and I am at home which means that I can enjoy and photograph ‘My Oak Tree’ and the sky behind, a source of ever changing beauty throughout the day :-)

More photos from the Morning::Evening gallery can be found here.

  1. Really wonderful captures of the same scene in very different lights

You did a wonderful job with these Cherie… you took up the challenge and created beauty at both ends of the day… i love it! ….peter:)

What a difference the light makes. Very creative.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

I am always fascinated by how different the oak tree looks at different times of day and at different times of year.

I hope that you and Ginnie have had a good weekend :-)

At last, a day without rain.. great photos Cherie.

    Those time lapses are good.

  6. JD says:

same tonal value (nore or less) in the sky in each photo….. the difference in the tree is down to the viewpoint, the first is with the light behind you and the second is ‘contrejour’

here endeth today’s lesson on ‘light trickery’
    :)
    nice pics though, as always

p.s. in cinematography they use a blue filter and underexpose by one or two stop to simulate ‘night scenes’

I love the way the light plays around that tree :-) What really surprises me about the second photo is that it was only 15-20 minutes before it went dark. I don’t remember the sky being quite so blue… but the tree did look just like it appears in the photo :-)

      And thank you :-)

I didn’t know they used those tricks in cinematopraphy!

“I am not allowed a camera in my parked car at work.”
    !?!?!?! :O
And meanwhile, everyone else is discussing free speech.
Heavens above Cherie, do you work for the MOD?
Inside the place of work – maybe, but on your way to work!
How do friends with mobile phones manage?
This is really ‘Big Brother’ stuff. :(
Anyhoo, your oak tree is an absolute replica of mine – complete with ivy. One evening I must get round to taking a pic or two. :)
    Cheers….B. I’m not really grumpy. :)

    • I was wondering about mobile phones too, as all have inbuilt cameras these days. My daughter is currently working for a major defence systems contractor with big electric and barbed wire fence round the site all that but there is no ban on her mobile phone.

      • CherryPie says:

I don’t think it is big brother stuff, more historic stuff that has been kept in place from times gone by. You can get permission to take cameras in for special occasions and I probably could permission if I said I wanted to take photos of the trees, birds and wildlife that surrounds the buildings. But then I would probably be questioned on what I wanted to do with the photos after I had taken them ;-)

But you have given me an idea which I might pursue…

Mobile phones are allowed but using the picture taking capability is strictly forbidden. With regards to the MoD in general, if mobile phones really are a problem in certain areas they would not be allowed. I would think that would be the same for Defence Contractors for the same reason and also to protect their intellectual property rights.

I would love to see some pictures of your Oak tree Bernard :-)

  8. The tree in the evening shot is so incredible!

  9. Ayush says:

this is a great theme and forces one to look upon familiar subjects in a different light.

  10. Bella says:

I do really love these both!
