When I think of all the Frenchmen who died on battlefields because of Napoleon’s ambition, I always wonder why France still celebrates him. In my books, he was a scoundrel and a criminal. Still l’Arche du Triomphe is a beautiful work of art. And you took great photos of the remarkable details.
I can’t really argue with your thoughts on Napoleon. But the commemorative artworks and monuments are quite something.
Ah yes. Memories of being under that.
The view from the top is my favourite view of Paris (so far).
And on top of it.. great view!!
I love that view, but I didn’t get to see it on this occasion!
Paris is so very beautiful, whatever time of year.
There is so much of interest there
Always nice … especially when there are no tourists around, which is almost always never.
It would be a very interesting view if there were no tourists around. It is a view I haven’t seen yet
What a wonderful series of pictures Cherie… the Arc de Triomphe is grand… but even more so when you look at the individual sculptures….peter:)
The sculptures are quite fascinating and I love the view off the top of the Arc
Nice pic.I must admit I haven’t gon to the arc on recent visits.Same with the Tour
I had to visit all the icons on the visit, one of the people I traveled with had never been to Paris!
great pics. reminded me of my own images from roughly the same angle. those skillfully done sculptures still amaze me
The sculptures are amazing aren’t they?
I am glad I brought back memories for you
I’ve walked past it twice, and never walked under it to look up and never climbed it. What a fool I am (though impatient children explains the foolishness on the 2nd occasion). I hope I get another chance.
You should make the opportunity to visit. The view off the top is quite something!!
