Saphir

The promotional brochure knows how to tempt a girl ;-)

Experience Lucerne bay aboard our new panoramic motor yacht.  During the hour-long trip, settle down in th spacious seating areas and savour the glorious views of the lake, the town and the mountains.  The vessel sports an amazing sliding roof that, just like a convertible car, can be opened and closed according to the weather.  As for the main deck, it features a unique lake-level water terrace.  The yacht also has a bar – perfect for that refreshing drink.  What a great way to relax:  close to nature, to the sun, the wind and the rain, it’s an experience for all the senses.  Welcome aboard.

Beautiful but unstable design with the curve below. The RYA and other bodies call it angle of vanishing stability. Initially stable, as it tips, e.g. many passengers on one side, it suddenly loses secondary stability and goes over. It also rocks in choppy waters. Whilst more stable design is safer and feels better below, it’s also uglier, being boxier. The eternal compromise.

I think they planned the design for a quiet lake where it seems to work.

Your comment does remind me that I sailed of the ‘Spirit of Free Enterprise’ just before its sister ship ‘The Herald of Free Enterprise’ sunk…

Lake Lucerne is famous for its monster waves which attracts brazillions of surfers, especially at times of full moon phases.
