Moor

This sundial is in the style of one commissioned by William III. It represents Africa, one of the four continents known at the time. The figure depicts a Moor, not a slave, and he has knelt here since before 1750.*

    A Moor is not a slave, I totally agree with you. We have that whole discussion in the Netherlands with Black Peter and Sinterklaas (5 th of December)… it is a Moor and NO slave either. However some think we are racists….. I don’t even go into that discussion anymore.
    Love the sundial, it is different.

      I don’t blame you for not getting into the discussion. Some people are so set in their ideas that they do not want to hear the truth.

      I was rather taken with the sundial, it caught my eye immediately I saw it.
