Those long lines in the first picture really carry the eye on a journey.

This is a grand old house. My ancestors used to live in Athelhampton, and would have known this house well, no doubt

The lawns, pool, trees, bridge, summerhouse, sculptures and plants are gorgeous. The interiors are of their era but the gardens will suit every generation.

I am not sure the interiors are still intact. The property was sold shortly after our visit and the contents put up for auction.

  4. Such a lovely house!
Is that really a summer house in photo 2?
I thought it was an ice house.

  5. Lovely photos of a wonderful house and garden. The sundial is very unusual :)

  6. What a wonderful pace to visit! It’s been some time since I ventured that far south.
