Euston Arch Gates

The hotel breakfast was as good as I remembered it was on my last visit to the hotel.  The day was looking a little dull with the possibility of rain so we opted to visit the National Railway Museum rather than do anything that involved being outside.  We took a cab ride there, so we arrived just before it opened.  We spent several hours there before walking back into York and around the York gardens.

We had an evening meal in The Blue Bicycle which exceeded expectations.  We were seated downstairs where there was a lovely atlmoshpere, the food was excellent and there was live music to accompany the meal. A good evening was had by all.

  1. The original gates from Euston Station?!
It was a shame that they demolished the arch in the 1960s (I think so…) to make way for the new railway station.

By the way, have you been to the Wellcome Collection situated right opposite the station?
It has some really unusual medical stuff in there.
Worth a visit if you come to London next time.

Yes the original gates and I think it was demolished around 1962. No I haven’t seen the Wellcome collection, I shall have to remember that for next time I visit.

Wonderful details. I think I’ve been to York as a kid but these I do not remember. :)

  3. Sounds like you’re having a great time. Glad those gates have been kept.
