My kitchen is on it’s last legs and needs replacing before it falls apart completely. On the morning of my departure to York for my weekend away with family, the kitchen fitters arrived at 8am to assess the situation. They only stayed for about 20 minutes which meant a nice early start to the journey because there was no point in hanging around after they had left. The further north we got the more it seemed that autumn had set in and there were some glorious coloured leaves on the trees.
We all arrived in York in time for lunch, so we booked into the hotel but left the bags in the car and headed into the city. After lunch we visited the Yorvik Centre and then wandered around the the town before heading back to the hotel to find our rooms and empty our cases. The hotel was very busy over the weekend and there was a shortage of single rooms so Mum’s had been upgraded. It was a fabulous room, the bathroom alone was big enough for a hotel room!
We had our evening meal in The Olive Tree which is opposite Cliffords Tower. I chose Sea Bass which was delicious. Following that we had a quick drink in the hotel bar before retiring for an early night which for me was much needed after such an early morning start
Looks like you’re having a nice time away.
It was a lovely time, thank you Frida
I’ve been to York twice..and absolutely loved it. Enjoy your time away..and hope your kitchen gets ‘fixed’!
Thanks Marcie, I had a great time away. The kitchen will get fixed, but I have to wait a little while longer.
Isn’t that a London plane tree?
They should rename the restaurant.
I am not sure what tree it is, I was concentrating on the fallen leaves and the door
Definitely a London plane tree.
101% sure!
Fabulous photo
Thank you the scene captured my eye as I walked past.
Lovely place!
I was quite captivated by it
I saw these lovely ruins Cherie and the fist thing that i read was that your kitchen was on its last legs… i would say that they lost their legs a few centuries ago lol….
i am glad that i kept on reading about your trip to York… but i turned out to be a good story….peter:)
If that was my kitchen I would have a lot to worry about
I am glad you enjoyed the first day of my visit to York.
Nice photo, like the autumn feeling to it.
Autumn isn’t quite so advance where I live as it was in Yorkshire.
Next time you are up in these parts we’ll have to meet up. Dxx
Your the second person to mention that. I will remember next time I am up in that direction
Another excellent time being had. Good for you Cherie!
It just has to be done
I have never been to York but you photos are begging for me to go! Thanks for sharing with us!
It is a lovely place to visit and their are lots of critters for you to photgraph in York museum gardens.
I’ve always wanted to go to York but never made it. You’ve renewed my desire.
I am sure you would love it
That is a great photo. I may be wrong but it looks like it’s the wall of the Yorkshire Museum/ Abbey gardens from the road.
I think the Yorkshire gardens are on the other side of that wall, although my bearings are a little turned around so I am not 100% sure.
