I am glad that you clarified that they were mill stones Cherie… i saw the broken wagon wheel and thought to myself… (self:) “you would hate to pull a cart with those stone wheels on it” lol… great composition….peter:)
I am not quite sure how that one got in on the act
Not sure that white one with spokes will grind much corn!
Maybe it was used on the waggon that transported the corn.
I am doing research on an ancient millstone that is located near Shepody, New Brunswick, Canada. It has a particular feature which is rather rare in North American millstones: the curved shape of the carved-out sections that emerge from the stone’s centre eye (for the mill’s rynd). I noticed that the middle millstone in your photograph has such a feature. I was wondering where this picture was taken.
