On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

John 12:12-13 (KJV)

Yes, it’s that week. Comes upon us quickly.

I love the way the artist ‘pictured’ the written words and made it into a nice painting.

The book it came from is lovely too. It was a gift from my grandfather on my first Christmas. Inside he wrote my name, the date and signed it Grandpa B followed by:

If you would enter the house you must have the key.
Christ is the key to the Household of God.
Christ is the key to Scripture.
Who said, suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.
      St Luke 18, 16.

I suppose a real Mid-Eastern painting would look quite a bit different than this, Cherry, but it’s definitely descriptive of the day as we’ve known it throughout the centuries.

It is a picture of its day and a nice piece of art and conveys the message of the words. If you have felt the ‘touch’ the visual representations to some extent become irrelevant.

Well for me they do… but I always appreciate a good piece of art :-)

I am starting with the Triduum this year [this evening]. I’ll refer readers to here for Holy Week.
