I met with a friend for lunch in Attingham Park. Lunch was followed by a leisurely stroll around the walled garden, woodland and deer park. By the time we left Attingham I had reached my target of 10000 steps for the walking challenge that I am taking part in.
Following my planned walk in Attingham Park I had a second unplanned walk.
After dinner we phoned my mum and got the automated reply “the person you are calling is unavailable please try again later”. We phoned several times and got the same message. We thought that she had done that thing that she sometime does with her phone where she has forgotten to press a button after a call. We had to go and check to be sure!
Thankfully she had done that thing with the phone button and it was nothing more problematic.
The second walk boosted my step count to over 14600, I am sure I can make 15000 steps before bedtime
I notice the difference in quality of the photographs taken with the Panasonic G80 whilst I was at Attingham and the more compact Panasonic TZ60 that I used on on my second walk.
I love that this post started with the artichoke (which Astrid and I eat almost every Monday for lunch), Cherry, and ended with everything being okay with your Mum.
There was a lovely crop of them. I am not sure if the will be used in dishes in the tea room or be sold as produce in the shop. It will be one or the other
I love that you have that walking challenge, Cherry. I try to keep fit by riding the bike and let the car “rest” and I keep running the citadel a few times a week. You see so many things on your walks and yes that artichoke looks ready to be eaten ….
When the walking challenge has ended, I will go for rides on my bike. I will pop a picnic in the basket and enjoy a leisurely lunch.
During my walking challenge I noticed new building works in a field that I used to cycle past. It is a little bit disheartening.
However I will be walking in different places next week and I am looking forward to it

When I was working I was not able to reach the recommended 10000 steps per day. I parked in the furthest car park from my office and got up frequently to get a glass of water.
I thought I would be able to reach that step count very easily when I stopped working but my walking steps decreased. I received a newsletter related to my leaving work last year which promoted a challenge of walking 10000 steps per day (or at least increasing exercise levels).

I regret that this challenge was not promoted whilst I was at work, I would have been actively fundraising for the charity.

Thanks Mike I hope you enjoy Attingham if you get to visit. My favourite parts are the walled garden and the mile walk. I have not done all of the walks and this time as I was walking with a friend we ventured out on a longer walk and took in part of the woodlands before the deerpark walk.
