We enjoyed a pleasant afternoon in the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. The museum houses some interesting galleries and displays; Spitfire Gallery, a Staffordshire Hoard display, natural science display, archaeology, local history along with galleries displaying art, design and ceramics.
The museum also has a cafe that serves delicious sandwiches and cakes, although we didn’t sample the latter.
Seeing the Staffordshire Hoard display made me want to revisit the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery to see their display of the Staffordshire Hoard, although it appears to be currently closed!
I love your selfie! This museum has some beautiful pieces. I especially like the helmet and the peacock
Thank you,
I had fun with the selfie
The hoard and the helmit are wonderful as are the highlighed ceramics, the peacock being one of the.
Looks a wonderful museum. I am fascinated by those cup and ring marked stones. Always good to see items from the Staffordshire Hoard and as you say the gallery in BMAG is superb. I think the museum is still closed although there is a good exhibition coming up at the Gas Hall called Victorian Radicals.
I am fascinated by the cup and ring markings and dissapointed I haven’t been able to see one of the stone structures tha is not housed in a museum.
A friend has told me that the Birmingham museum is due to open early February.
Oh I have been to this museum in Stoke-on-Trent before.
And I still remember that peacock.
Not sure about the spitfire though.
I was in Birmingham just last month, oh I mean December 2023.
Their museum and gallery were closed too.
Went to see Aston Hall instead.
I think the Spitfire is new.
I have been informed that the Birmingham museum and gallery is due to open again on the 10th February.
