Autumn Fires
In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!
Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.
Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!
Robert Louis Stevenson
Love it. An excellent choice of verse.
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely photographs again. I’ve only just realised since reading the replies to your “Thought for the Week” that you take most of the photos on your site…. The photographs are beautiful but now knowing we’re seeing what you do through the camera makes them extra special.
I am glad you enjoy my photos, I have a lot of fun taking them
Ah there’s some beautiful sights Cherie!
Thank You
What is that middle one, Cherie?
It is a Laurel, it has got a bit tall and out hand. It needs a big prune next spring.
Yes delightful photos indeed. Autumn is truly a beautiful time of year with its vibrant colours.
Autumn is my favourite time of year because of the colours
So much greenery and sunshine – it really does look so much like malaysia, in this pic you could probably take photos for brochures (eg. tourism )
That is very kind of you to say so
I was rather hoping that someone would ask about the first picture, then I could find out about it without showing my ignorance.
But….as they haven’t……?
It is Leycesteria formosa. It was in my garden when I bought the house, I had never heard of it before. I think it is a lovely shrub
I love the photos[and the poem is lovely too].
Autumn is my favourite season for the same reason, plus I like the nip in the air.
I am most alive in Autumn.
I do so love autumn too and the leaves are changing daily. There are some beautiful colours around at the moment

Wonderful photo’s Cherie and touching poem.
I too, love Autumn, and my favourite, all time
place to be, is The Highlands of Scotland in Autumn.
The baying of the rutting stags, the wonderful Autumnal
colours, and the smell of peat fires burning in the
Crofts.
C’est Magnfique!

Oh! now you have made me want to go and visit Scotland. I love Scotland too, but I have never been in the autumn. You have made it sound so tempting.
