Maybe it is stretching the point, but I can see lots of balance in this photograph. It was taken yesterday after my regional (trade union) committee meeting. I had hoped to take quite a few photographs in the city, but as you can see from this photo the light was failing and it was only 15.15.
The meeting was long and we didn’t manage to get through the agenda items in the time alloted, but it was however very productive and informative. We discussed many issues, two key ones were the Civil Service Compensation Scheme (CSCS) talks and the Make Your Vote Count Campaign (MYVC).
Recently the Civil Service management announced unilateral changes to the CSCS and at the meeting we received an update on how the negotiations had progressed so far and what the next step would be.
The MYVC aims to put pressure on candidates in the forthcoming elections by canvasing their opinion and seeking commitment on key issues for the public sector. This campaign has been building for 4 years and been tested during the local and European elections, with lessons learned we are ready for the challenge.
After all that hard work and the photo challenges the only thing to do was stay for dinner in the city, but that is for another post

Interesting interpretation. But there seem to be ‘Eyes’ everywhere, these days – we’ve even got one in Nice. Wonder why …
I thought it was only going to be there for Christmas so I was surprised to see it.
I guess they give a birds eye view of the cities which might be why they are popular.
Ah I didn’t know there was a Birmingham Eye. THe nest couple of years are going to be the time we need the Union more than ever. Have a great weekend
Yes there will be troubled times ahead. I will update on this when I have the briefing materials.
Oh, undoubtedly there is balance there.
Which one can you see?
Ewwwwwwwww. You wouldn’t catch me on that for anything!! LOL
Mine’s HERE
Come visit if you have time.
I am sure there is a fantastic view
Very balanced and lets hope it stays that way. Yes we have an ‘eye’ in Brisbane Australia too – they are very popular. Enjoy your weekend.
Yes we don’t want it wobbling over!
Good take on the theme!
Glad you like it
I was thinking of a Ferris wheel to have a great balance or else it will crash. Lovely take on this one thanks for sharing!
PhotoHunt:Balanced
We wouldn’t want it crashing, especially just there.
soooooooo balanced and cool, Fairy !!!
i like very much the light too and i could play there with you )))))))))))))))
magical weekend love and kissessssssssssssssss
Hello Luisa, sending you love and kisses right back xoxoxoxoxoxox
Wow that thing is huge!
I played too. Have a great weekend!
It is quite impressive close up.
I’ve yet to go up on any Eye, but I’d love to. Great shot!
If it stays for a while, I think I might give it a go
I love everything about this photo – subject, light, perspective, colors. Great for balanced!
Thanks Annie
i love this photo, and you’re right, there’s a lot of balance here. have a great weekend.
So glad you like it
In this case, balance is a GOOD thing!
I totally agree!
Mmmm, A Birmingham Eye!
I wonder if anything remains of the ‘real’ Birmingham left to see?
Which reminds me I must did out all those old negatives.
There have so many changes even since I first visited. I have one of the Cathedral coming up you will have to let me know if that has changed.
Lovely shot — almost black and white with the light.
It does have very muted colours doesn’t it?
Abslutely needs balance to stay there. Great take.
It certainly does.
This looks so much like the London Eye!
My Photo Hunt entry is up here:
http://bonggamom.blogspot.com/2010/01/photo-hunt-balance.html
It is very similar only a little smaller.
How on earth did you manage to get away without some VIP (Very intelligent police(wo)man) confiscating your camera?
I have no idea… I did wonder about whether I would be questioned, there were rather a lot of those ‘Community Support Officers’ around the town.
Great idea for the theme.
Glad you enjoyed it
I would say, “Please, go up, Cherie, and take a photo for me.” I’m not very brave in those flying machines!
If stays for a while I shall try and go back and take a ride on it
I think it is a wonderful photo, despite the grey weather. Balance springs to mind here with no trouble.
Happy weekend to you Cherie, although it is almost over for you.
It was very strange weather dropping dark so early like that.
Happy Weekend to you too.
I remember this being installed outside my hotel when I was in Birmingham in November. I never got to see it completed, unfortunately. They do look magnificent on the skyline.
I didn’t realise it would still be there and working after Christmas. I was glad of the opportunity to take a photograph.
Have you every been to a “meeting” that wasn’t long. I think it’s inherent in the definition. Even if it’s short it’s too long because it was a meeting LOL! I always enjoy getting around and seeing the different views of this weeks theme. Yours is cool!
Drop by and check mine here.
I don’t mind long meetings as long as they are productive
Glad you like my take on the theme
