This morning I was surprised to wake up to a thick layer of snow. The sun was already shining brightly so it was beginning to thaw. I thought it would be lovely to stroll along the snowdrop walk at Attingham before the snow had completely gone. Despite a few delays including the Jehovah’s Witnesses knocking at my door, I eventually managed to get out. The scenery on my drive to Attingham was spectacular, especially the Shropshire hills topped with snow.
As you can see, I did just about manage to get the snowdrops and snow together. There was a lot of snow in the shady places but most of it had gone by lunchtime when I enjoyed a slice of coffee cake and a warming cup of coffee. After lunch it dropped bitterly cold outside and there was a chill wind. Despite this, I had the urge to venture into the deer park even though I hadn’t intended to. I was treated to a really close up view of the deer herd and also the snow capped Wrekin. The deer seemed quite happy with the visitors until someone thought it was cool to walk right up to them causing them to walk quickly into the distance.
I came back home to reality and an afternoon full of jobs which I think I have finished now!

I’ve just got back from my favourite secret snowdrop site only hours ago. There was a complete blanket of white….no snow, just snowdrops.
What can I now post tomorrow….now everyone has seen snowdrops?

You make me feel guilty. I was going to do an 8 mile snowdrop walk this morning, but the weather was so bad that I headed to the gym instead.
Well I didn’t do 8 Miles!!! so don’t feel guilty about going to the gym. I did however enjoy the walk and the views. More of the views to come

Here, all I could detect so far (under our hazelnuts), were some tiny winter aconites.
Like the word ’snowdrops’, by the way. In German snowdrops are called ‘Schneeglöckchen’ (snowbells).
Ahh Sean! I love bluebells most of all and snowdrops follow up as a close second. I do get so very confused with the names and have often called ’snowdrops’ ’snowbells’ which confuses everyone over here!
Maybe I have a little German ancestry which I haven’t found during my family research yet!
The winter goes on and on – it doesn’t seem it yet but we will talk of this one for years to come.

Jehovah’s self-proclaimed Witnesses knocked on my door too. Must be their special week, or maybe just coincidence. I only know it was them from talking to my neighbour, because I saw them coming and I ‘aint answering the door unless Jehovah comes knocking in person. And if he does I reckon he’ll tell me “These Witnesses Man! They’re doin’ ma head in! They keep knocking on Heaven’s Door but I never answer either mate
I did answer the door because I thought it was a neighbour. Apparently Mr C had said something last week when they visited which encouraged them to come back!!! They asked for him by name :-O
I can see he can’t be trusted to answer the door in future!
Oh dont get me going on JW’s! I once had a visit from them……..they weren’t nice really, over the top! Anyway they told me there was only room for 44,000 in heaven (numbers may be inaccurate) I told them there was more than 444,000 JW’s and they should check it out & if there were any spare seats to come back and let me know! lol! Am still waiting!

However I think those JWs you mention need a bit of work on there attitude before the they can be so sure of their place!!
