I thought a photograph of Foyles bookshop would be good to include in my 100 photos project.  I was so focused on getting all of the word Foyles in the photograph that I didn’t notice what else I had captured in my shot.  The people I was with didn’t really help either they kept turning round and making faces at the camera.  I shall blame them anyway for not  noticing sooner.

I didn’t like any of the photos enough to include them in my 100 photos so it is back to the drawing board on that.

Foyles

It’s nice to see it hasn’t changed since I was last there 30 years ago except the upper floors seem to be unused.

Well I didn’t get much past the history and politics section which is on the second floor. I am guessing that the those upper windows must be offices rather than part of the shop. It is a very funny shape inside I will need to investigate more closely next time I am there.

Well! Which building would I visit if I were there?

My poverty would drive my choice: would have to be the Bargain Bookshop.

Lend me a few quid and I’ll go to Foyle’s.

It was what was underneath the Bargain Books that was worrying me!!!

And I suspect that you would need even more money to visit there than Foyles.

Ah yes – a truly shocking checked coat…

The licensed sex shop doesn’t surprise me, although I suspect the description offers a bit more than what is actually on sale, unless things have been significantly liberalised in England recently? You should perhaps have gone in and demanded what they said was available.

I didn’t notice it was there until I saw the photo when I got home!

If I had tried that tactic though I might have got disowned by the people I was with or got more than I bargained for!!!

    Soho eh? Hidden depths, Cherie.

I was focused on the lure of such a good bookshop, everything else passed me by (apart from the irritating people pulling faces at my camera as I was taking photos) :-)

I thought you knew I had hidden depths my dear James ;-)

I love the surprises we find once we see our images on the big screen, CP. Sometimes we get real winners! :D

  6. I can’t see how you could have taken the shot without including the sex-shop content, except by excluding the building and zooming in on the neon “FOYLES” sign, and that would have been a waste of a nice building. I think that the less-than-salubrious content adds another world element to the picture.

You are right, the other shots I took were closer and didn’t take in that building at all. They looked rather boring so they won’t be given an airing on my blog ;-)

  7. It is one of those shops that you can lose yourself in gladly

Oh, the hours I spent there.
