Such terrific detail. I’m always amazed at the ancient stonework that was done.
It is fascinating isn’t it?
Not looking all that hygienic at this moment.
It is rather Al Fresco these days.
The more I look at this, I wonder why the stone basin and arch were built next to a corner wall like this … maybe it was for privacy or …. maybe it was for a great well composed photo like this several centuries later. This is the sort of thing that i like to look out for. If ever I manage to visit this place … forgive me if I copy your work here … but I’ll give you a mention !!
To there right there were a few steps down to a priests cell, if memory serves me right. Maybe that was the reason it was there.
