I can’t look at these incredible buildings without being amazed at the skill, ability and hard work that went into creating them – without all our modern aids!
They are incredible places and going underneath the crypt taking us back through the years was quite fascinating.
But if a precentor facilitates worship why does he need a court? (Everyone’s a facilitator these days!)
I thought of it as meaning courtyard… But maybe I am incorrect with that thought??
Wow is there a bad view of the Minster!
Currently the part where there is scaffolding. I will see if I can dig one out, although I avoided taking photos of it from that angle.
Is the place all repaired now? The Eastern window for example?
No it isn’t complete. I blogged about the renovations in my post about the Minster:

Such an amazing cathedral. I didn’t see that court, but then there is so much to take in!
There is so much to see in York. I still haven’t finished and need to go back
I don’t think I would have noticed that view if it wasn’t for that beautiful tree attracting my attention.
WOW. A new word for me today, Cherry! I wonder if this is the precursor to our “presenter” word today?
I hadn’t heard of it before either, before I saw the sign. I had to look up what it meant. It could well have come from the word ‘presenter’.
So what’s the percentage of precentors presently working at Precentor’s Court today?
I didn’t see any on my visit
Beautiful architecture, it has been ages since I visited York
The minster is very impressive and the town of York is lovely.
Great location for close up of the Towers with the tree. I’ve just worked out where you were by the angle and consequently I have never seen or knew the meaning of that sign before.
It was the first time I had noticed it too. I had to look up the meaning when I got back home.
