The moon will officially become full Saturday (May 5) at 11:35 p.m. EDT. And because this month’s full moon coincides with the moon’s perigee — its closest approach to Earth — it will also be the year’s biggest.
The moon will swing in 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) from our planet, offering skywatchers a spectacular view of an extra-big, extra-bright moon, nicknamed a supermoon.

Here’s hoping that it isn’t overcast tonight
It was too overcast for me to see
I am looking at your post Cherie and there is not picture of the “Perigee Moon” or anything else… i sat on a country road at a golf course for an hour hoping that the Super Moon would show its face through the clouds… it did not… perhaps i will catch it setting across our lake at 5 a. m. tomorrow the morning….peter:)
Hi Cherie… the video finally came up and i enjoyed it very much… we have cloud tonight so i missed it … but they are calling for clear skies tomorrow… if i get a great shot… i will post it… that is for sure… love…peter:)
YouTube can be a little quirky I am glad you enjoyed the video when it eventually dedide to play for you.
I can see the moon tonight, but it is obscured by clouds and not very photogenic.
That reminds me-I must sharpen the axe….
I hope you didn’t have to use it!!
no big moon photos for us … too much cloud action!!
The same here, sadly!
I was sad but I started the 365 project recently. There are some cracking shots on there.
I was a little sad too, that I didn’t see it first hand. But I do still love looking at other peoples pictures of it
After all that, I forgot to even look! Still, in my defence I would have been playing Mass Effect
Was it very visible? I might see if I can find some pictures of it on the net – someone’s bound to have had a clear sky somewhere…
I am not sure that is much of a defence…
You used to love walking home from wherever and on return sitting out and looking up at the stars. I do remember you telling me about that
I couldn’t get to see it because of the cloud cover, worst luck.
It was too cloudy here too.
Wonder if you saw the moon, it was very cloudy here.
It was too cloudy here too, but I have seen some really good photos taken by other blog friends.
