Fragments of the knights’ fresco can be seen on the barrel ceiling above the cross seen in the previous post. This is the only room of the castle to have kept a fragment of its medieval decor (thought to be late 12th century).

It’s a wonder these things last as they do.
It is nice when they do
The legendary Knights Templar?
You see those little animal pictures (2nd photo – top) like a duck, a bull and maybe a camel?!
They look like Egyptian hieroglyphs! :O
It supposedly depicts a fight between Frankish knights and Saracens. I can’t find any other information on it.
The colours are very vibrant, Cherie – have they been restored?
I am not sure if they have been restored or not.
It reminds me of the Bayeux Tapestry.
It does look rather like the Bayeux Tapestry. I have seen that too.
Fantastic! Thanks.
Glad you like it
Although well worn, it has done well to retain its colour.
