Autumnal

As I headed to work this morning the rain was torrential and there were rivers of water on the road and there was a distinct autumn feel to the air.  I noticed on my short walk from the car park to my office building that the leaves on the trees now had slight autumnal hues whereas on Friday they were completely green.  Some of the leaves had fluttered to the ground and I managed to enjoy the view despite the rain.

The back of my skirt got absolutely soaked as I made that short walk and when I arrived at my building I found that the office was freezing.  Many people were still wearing their coats so I knew it must be bad. It was so cold my skirt didn’t dry out until around lunch time.  Most unpleasant!

Although I am very fond of autumn I can’t help wondering what happened to summer?  I seem to have blinked and missed it.

  1. Yes, finally!
    Hello autumn, goodbye summer!

It rained a lot yesterday and today in London too. :(

It’s my favorite season of the year, Cherry, but I, too, wonder where summer went? To be honest, summer here in the Netherlands seems much more like autumn than summer, so that must mean I’m a very happy camper here, right?! :D

Sometimes I think that Spring jumps into Autumn….Yesterday was a long time since I wore my jeans again to work. Normally I stick with my Capri’s. My colleagues wonder though about my sanity. I just want to keep summer in my head as long as possible ;)
Wonderful picture, I love the Autumn colours very much.

  5. Oh how I do hate sitting in a wet skirt… For many reasons (not least that someone I know might notice me).

We did have about a week of summer. That was sufficient. ;-)

I would know nothing about sitting around in a damp skirt, but I would imagine the best cure would be to break into a vigorous Highland Fling!
(Between you and me – I don’t like it too hot, and this wee bit of rain has done wonders for my leeks.)

I don’t like it too hot either but it was a little to cold to be sitting around yesterday. I rather like to be inside and listen to the rain with a nice cup of tea :-)

Now, cheire, we had a couple of nice weeks! But autumn has arrived. Brrr.

    • CherryPie says:

Well there were a couple of days at the beginning of September and the Olympics seemed to be OK and there was that one week in May…

I have missed my garden visits and I feel cheated!!
