Faded Light

Yesterday, when I turned on one of the upstairs lights it started to flicker and I thought that the bulb had gone, so I switched the light off. When I turned it back on nothing happened and I was about to get another bulb when I realised that all the upstairs lights had gone out…

The downstairs ones and all the sockets still work but the upstairs ceiling lights either don’t come on at all or flicker madly when switched on. The electrician can’t come until Monday so for now the upstairs is illuminated with desk lamps!

After that minor irritation it was a nice surprise to have an impromptu invitation to visit friends for board games and maybe a glass of wine or two.

sounds as though your upper lighting circuit is off if none of the lights work
    check your fuse box
if your house is like mine you will see four trip switches, one for each circuit (two lighting and two power) and one of them will be in the OFF position

if that is the case just switch it back on
if you don’t have those switches leave well alone

      Thank you :-)

There is a box with trip switches but for some reason the switch hasn’t tripped out. Some of the lights flicker if switched on. I should find out what the problem is tomorrow…

I’m glad you’ve got an electrician able to come in so quickly.

Well you do say “Follow me on Flickr.”
Your upstairs lights are your new followers! :)

If it was me, I would have turned the ‘trip-switch’ off and on half a dozen times to get a good/better contact. ;O

Lots of Good Wishes and Good Luck (from wet Bucks) for 2013.
    Cheers…..Bernard & Wesley.
