I love canals and the low bridges you often have to duck under when walking the tow path, such a relaxing place. These boats are so attractive too.
After seeing these I had the urge have a few gentle days floating up and down the canal.
Fun. We have really enjoyed days out on a friends barge. So peaceful chugging along the canals.
Many years ago I had the same experience, sharing a few day with some friends on their boat.
Very nice, CP. Our canals have undergone welcome environmental improvements and cleansing, since my boyhood days. The ubiquitous ‘polio – no bathing’ signs was a method to guarantee voluntary immersion of rebellious juveniles and unintended acquisition of immunity to all pathogens on the planet.
Exposure to dirt and impurities brings about naturally immunisation! Negating the need for potions and pills.
I’d love to have a canal boat holiday!

I have had a canal holiday but it wasn’t on a long boat
I was able to see how ‘your’ locks work. Chris took us into Bath and it was just amazing. Different from our system. Your canals are so narrow, I know, that is why the narrow boats come in

The locks are fascinating. The one and only time I went on a canal holiday I learned the order of placing the boats in the locks…
By going first we managed to flood the long boat that was behind us. Ooops!
They were very good about it, but we felt awful.
