The Daily Mail has an interesting article that shows several of these structures as captured by earth observing satellites. The article points out that many of the worlds ancient structures appear to be built along astronomical alignments.

I will share two photos from the article with you, to see them all you will have to click here.

Stonehenge is a place I have been fascinated with since I first visited, aged 13, when I was able to get up close and touch the stones and feel in awe of them.  You can see my blog articles regarding Stonehenge here and here.  My post on the related site, Silbury Hill can be found here.

I am currently reading a book about the Sphinx so it is appropriate to include this image showing the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx.

What I think is most interesting are the similarities in proportions, in these structures, from cultures who had no knowledge of the other’s existance during the time that they were built. Not to mention without modern technology, how they were event accomplished at all.

And in the case of Chichen Itza, why there are depictions of elephants on several of the building, though elephants are not indigenous to the Western World. Does that then give the “Land bridge” theory merit that we were once all connected? Or… something else. (Que the “In Search Of” music and where is Leonard Nimoy when you need him? :)

I became fascinated with these things at about 10 or 11, largely because of this show. You might also check out the statues of Easter Island, who many have said from the air, looks like a landing strip :)

Though sad you can no longer touch these things, I also understand not being able too – and the difference is clearly seen between the worn-down Chichen Itza and Uxmal.

Just a little point of interest I noticed that was mentioned in the article, and our discussion two posts below. Though many think that Quetzacoatl is Aztec for Kukulkan, my Mayan guide, Abel, said this is a misnomer – they are not the same, but they are the same – Quetzacoatl is the son of Kukulkan, like Christ is the son of God:)

The fact that all the monuments are similar fascinates me too. I also believe there must be a lost technology that enabled them to be built.

With regards to Stonehenge, that has been damaged over the years, what with souvenir hunters grabbing a little bit of the place and hippies clambering all over the stones in a drunken state.

In one or two of the sites it is suggested that a landing strip is visible…

Thank you for your additional interesting information regarding the sites :-)

I find all this fascinating too. There is so much about the past we have yet to understand.

Most of our land formation been done by glacier but one place there some land area and rocks well over billion years old.

    Coffee is on

  6. I don’t like the road built so close to Stonehenge. :(
Have you been to Avebury Henge?

    • CherryPie says:

There is a project underway to restore the site to a more natural environment. which includes removing the road grassing that area.

I am quite excited about the project :-)

I went to the link of all the satellite pictures. So fascinating. I once saw a program about the pyramids in Egypt.
A group of people were able to create on a computer the stars and planets during the time that they build the pyramids and they found out that the places where the pyramids are build are a mirror of the stars and planets in those days.
There is more between heaven and earth that we are aware off.
    Fascination and intriguing.
