Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Beautiful photo. Puzzling thought.
Yes the quote is a tricky one…
Oh! St-Ex is not always easy….Great photo!
Yes it is one to ponder over.
This is a good thought for the week Cherie… and this is a superb image framed by the wildflowers… perfect!:)…..peter:)
I am glad you like it
WOW. Something to sink my teeth into for this week, Cherry!
This quote is definitely one to contemplate.
Ahem, why would even Andrew find this puzzling.
There is nothing puzzling about this. The not seldom overrated Antoine just managed to make a truism sound tricky.
Or would anyone find following sentence tricky?
Perfection is achieved when there is nothing more to add and nothing left to take away.
The peace of the night.
Sean: You gave the perfect translation of St-Exupéry’s thought. And the photo expresses the perfection Antoine talks about!
But he specifically said “NOT when there is nothing more to add…”
What Sean offers is very different from what Antoine’s words quoted here offer
If the thought needs changed to make it make sense, or even perfect, then it aint a very good thought, I think
or perhaps not well translated
The ‘Not’, dear Andrew, is just part of the attempt to make it tricky. And – obviously – you could not resists the temptation.
Dans quelque domaine que ce soit, la perfection est enfin atteinte non pas lorsqu’il n’y a plus rien à ajouter mais lorsqu’il n’y a plus rien à enlever.
In any field whatsoever, perfection is finally attained not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing to remove.

That is what it means for me too.
