Busy Again

From the Outside

The past couple of weeks have been a bit hectic.  I was due to visit Oxford for a few days at the beginning of November with my family (to celebrate my birthday) but unfortunately the day before we were due to go my Mum slipped on the stairs and broke her leg in three places.  So the few days away turned into looking after Mum and getting her settled in back at home after her stay in hospital.

I did however take time out on my birthday to visit Hereford to see the Cathedral, the chained library and the Mappa Mundi.  The cathedral was covered in scaffolding and in front of it were half dismantled stalls from a food fair that had recently taken place.  This means I will have to go back again to get some photographs of the outside ;-)

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. That is some tragedy. I hope your mom has a good recovery. Happy belated birthday. Sometimes it does not always goes as planned.
I love the statue with the bike. What a poser…. great job.
The Hereford cow is famous and known as a good cow.
I hope that the next time you are at the cathedral, they finished the job.

Thanks Astrid, it was large shock for my Mum and quite stressful for me. She is so independent, so she is not happy that she can’t do everything that she normally does.

Thanks for the birthday wishes :-)

You have taught me something, I did not know that about the Hereford cow.

  2. I hope your mum will get well soon.
I have never been to Hereford.

Thanks LC I hope she does too :-)

Well the cathedral has free entry but you have to pay to visit the chained library and the Mappa Mundi exhibition. I didn’t mind, it means that the artifacts are able to stay in their appropriate location ;-)

Astrid told me about your mom, Cherry. I’m so sorry. It’s hard when this happens to anyone but especially at her age. I’m sure it’s been hard on everyone! And your birthday??? How did we manage to miss that?????

Cherie, my deepest apologies – all year I’ve been checking your blog to see when your birthday is and then it slips past me.

Happy Birthday but it sounds as if it was a bit down. Still, you got to see a church.

Sorry to hear about your Mother, hope the recovery goes smoothly.
    Nice shots of Hereford.
Only stopped here once for two hours on the way from Hay to Bristol, can’t remember any of this. Surprised a friend who lived on the outskirts by knocking on his door !
