We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it – we are going back from whence we came.

We carry the ancient ocean within each cell and in the rich red river that runs through us.
Nice photo.
Yes we do
Now there is poetic reality.
i love your image of the sails moving out of the harbour Cherie…
i too am tied to the ocean even if we live 2000 km inland in Canada…
Penny have taken 6 cruises since we retired and we have vacationed in the Atlantic provinces many more often over the years….peter:)
I have only ever been on short boat or ferry trips but I have always enjoyed them
We both do a boating post at the same time.
There is a lot of it about at the moment
I am nearing the end of my current boat/ship pots…
I believe there’s more to this idea than we realize, Cherry, since our bodies are apparently made up of the same % of water, right?
The human body does have a high water content
The Warrior figurehead is magnificent!
It is a fine piece of carving
This is one of my favorite quotes and I was so pleased you chose it Cherie. I feel like I belong to the sea when I visit there.
As it is your favourite I am so glad I chose it
I had the photo lined up but I needed a good quote to go with it.
When I was at the tender age of two, way back in 1944, I remember Churchill saying,
“If Britain must choose between Europe and the open sea, she must always choose the open sea”.
Those words made a lasting impression on little me, and every year since then, I have gathered up my bucket and spade and headed for some wonderful holidays at the seaside.
Now, in May this year, just over seventy years on, I find myself joining the democrat struggle to free our country from the grasp of the European Union, and as always I will be ‘choosing the open sea’.
A big ’smiley face’ and a ‘pinch of salt’. (sea-salt of course).
Hope all is well?
I’ve enjoyed all of your Portsmouth pictures – brought back many happy memories of some of those many holidays – although now without my bucket and spade.
It is nice to hear from you again
All is well with me, I hope it is with you too
Now I really think you should take your bucket and spade on one of your seaside trips
That’s a really beautiful image. Did you take it? It makes one want to go live in your photograph!
How are you, Cherie?
Yes it is one of mine Almost every photo on my blog is.
I am fine, I hope you are too
One of my favourite views. Did you make it into the ‘Still & West’ though?! Used to serve a great pint of Gales…I should go back and find out if they still do (after the Fullers takeover).
No we didn’t frequent the ‘Still & West’ you will have to go back and explore that for yourself
