    Theresa was quite mad, often, but a heck of a gal. Her ilnesses were legendary, laying her in bed for months at a time. Her ‘visions’ and prayers were particularly spectacular and most often concerned ‘the Garden’. She longed to water the Garden but was always thwarted. The Gardener had that job.

    But despite her being unable to confer that ‘living Grace’ herself, she was a powerhouse of effort to create, build, manage and develop so many, many Cloisters for the many, many ladies she attracted to the Faith and her nunneries. Her places all had gardens.

    She was a true earthly gardener of plants and souls.

    Theresa is a particularly favourite gal of mine. God Himself watered that magnificent woman.

      It is often written that suffering a severe illness can bring on such visions and spiritual experiences. I find this whole subject fascinating :-)
