We live in an age where more burden-lifters are needed. These days we have mobs cavorting on it than lifting the weight. I wonder what the gardener thinks about as he/she mows the grass around it.
A wider view of the location would show that behind the cross, Wells Cathedral stands tall. Nearby are the Wells that give the city its name.
