I had to have a little help here with the translation (thank you Bing)… wealth gathered by hard labour…. In my humble opinion and nobody has to agree, there is something wrong when I pay 33% tax on all my earnings (I don’t mind) but I do mind that when I put my savings in the bank that I get a tax penalty for having savings….
The saying is beautiful, but in my eyes “wishful thinking” and I hope I don’t offend anybody.
I love the picture with it. A wonderful series pictures from the “war elephants”….

The quote comes from Biblical times and is not easily explained or translated in any of the Bible translations, but yes it is about working to obtain wealth and I am not sure if the quote is solely referring to monetary wealth.

However, I quite agree with you in relationship to the taxes we have to pay, especially savings. This too is where the quote is relevant… those gathering the taxes have obtained that wealth by quick and easy means…
