Hexham Abbey is one of the earliest seats of Christianity in England. Since its beginning, it has witnessed periods of immense turmoil and change, across the region and within the English Church itself. Many of these are reflected in the very fabric of the building we see today.

Remember, remember, the fifth of November:
Happy birthday, CherryPie, and may you thoroughly enjoy your next sun orbit.
Thank you
You always remember. I have just got home from a mini break in Harrogate. It was fun
The beautiful stained glass windows, murals and sculptures looked as if they survived the periods of immense turmoil, or were restored later. Thank goodness.
The stained glass is wonderful
it all looks exceedingly neat and tidy, indoors as well as outdoors, CP. the stained glass shots are so sharp.
It is a lovely place to visit, so full of history.
Loving that gothic architecture still, and the angel wings display – but also, I came to be the first to say Happy Birthday – but Sean beat me again this year! lol
That’s cool, I’m glad everyone remembers your birthday, they should, and Sean is SO sweet to remember to do so every year
All that’s missing now is Shabana – she is a little light, isn’t she? I enjoy her comments so much, too
PS – Andrew, too – he never fails to crack me up, hope he’s still around?
Not that I don’t enjoy everyone’s comments, I do – everyone here is very sincerely positive, it’s refreshing
I love all my birthday messages, it lovely that people think of me, the messages give me a warm glow
What a magnificent church!
And I hope you had a great birthday.
Hexham is a place you ’should’ visit.
I had a wonderful birthday, thank you
