that was a fascinating post, CP. i think this book has survived well.
I love to see old books like this
I am always blown away when a medieval document survives until our time. And not just the passage of centuries. With wars, fires, floods, epidemics, religious rebellions and rats, it is amazing that this Gospel Book looks in good condition,
We are lucky to have such fine old documents.
One of my favorite things to see, Cherry: handmade manuscripts/books!
They are always a delight
What a great day out. I really must go back to Lichfield Cathedral. My one brief visit was curtailed because it was a Sunday and I only had 45 minutes to view between services.
My previous visit was at Christmas time. We were not able to view everything due to the Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival. The trees were obscuring some of the views.
