Super to see the inside of the church and glad you finally managed to visit it
The church history is interesting, it was lovely to see inside.
Wow, that is really beautiful. I’ve always wanted to go inside there but never have
The history of the church is fascinating. The church was rebuilt after it was bombed in WWII.
What a coincidence?!
I was watching a programme about Acre in Israel last week.
The Templar Knights were mentioned so many times in the programme.
The church has panels explaining history of the knights and more.
Beautiful tiles, windows and architecture, but … all righty, time to read that link you left a couple of weeks ago about the purpose of these scary sculptings. What in the world is that pulling on the guys ear?
The links you need to read are about Green Man sculptures in connection with churches in England.
Done! Wrote a post about it and YOU, too! xo
When/if you have time, help me out with the meaning of other faces? Particular the guy with the thing biting his ear. Cautionary tale, some form of protection like gargoyles, left up to interpretation or lost to history, do you think?
Thank you The pictures you found are interesting.
I am not sure of the meaning of the other faces but they are meant as gargoyles, although inside the church rather than outside. In this instance they are separating the congregation below from heaven above. Reminding the congregation about sin.
