We got absolutely soaked on our day trip to Hay-on-Wye. Just after lunch the heavens opened and we were drenched by rain of Biblical proportions. Driving home was a little tricky to start with due to standing water on the country lanes.
Wearing soggy trousers made me feel unclean so when we got home I had a lovely refresshing soak in the bath.
“Watery Wales” reminds me of that if Wales were flattened down it would be bigger than England.
Naughty
I love Wales, we spent many family holidays there when I was a youngster. We live just across the border in Shropshire. Mr C is always resistant to a trip into Wales and I am not really sure why!
Just imagine us visiting Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
Seriously: I always enjoyed visiting Wales and Cornwall.
We have photos with my brother and I standing on the platform next to the station name
I also have such a platform photo (without me, though). On the way from the Weald to Wales, I kept mumbling to myself what a friend had written down phonetically for me, only to learn when visiting a tea room that no one would pronounce the 56 letters of ‘Llanfair PG’
LOL
The bear looks as if he is standing up to the g weather.
To me he looks like he is having a good stretch and in need of a back scratch
Such a shame about the rain – it is horrid having to travel in soaking wet clothes. I enjoyed Hay on Wye when we visited especially the castle but the town was very busy.
It wasn’t very busy yesterday, that might have been to do with the weather.
We chose not to visiit the castle, although I would like to on another occasion now that it has been renovated
Is this the town famous for its book festival/ bookshops/ books etc?
I would like to visit this town too.
It is famous for both and we visited for the bookshops. There are three book shops that we always enjoy browsing.
Lots of nice teashops and cafes too.
