On a misty Sunday morning we travelled to Birmingham to visit the Staffordshire Hoard now that the museum is fully open again after refurbishment.

We found the archaeology theme interesting but were underwhelmed by what was on display. I think part of the problem is that the special items are not ’showcased’ and the lighting is quite dim casting the exhibits in shadows.

I did however enjoy the architecture of the building as seen from the upper floor.

Excellent.. the internal architecture is impressive and the collection takes quite a long time to cover.
Only one suggestion. Trees are needed outside!

  2. It is a wonderful Museum and there is a lot to see. I saw the Staffordshire Hoard exhibition some years ago and quite enjoyed it but they may have changed it all since I visited.

Finally! This place had been shut for so long.
Do they still have rubbish collection issues in Brummie?
