My first walk of the day was with a friend at Dudmaston Hall. It was our second attempt at a walk there, our first attempt was a failure when to our surprise Dudmaston is not open on a Friday! Our walk was followed by lunch.
The weather was so lovely that when I returned home I decided to go on a local walk in and around Apley Woods.

I’m glad you finally cracked the secret code of their operating hours.
One can only assume the aristocracy takes an extended weekend to count their silver. Personally, I would have written a very strongly worded letter to the National Trust demanding to know why their lawns weren’t accessible for our immediate leisure.
But thank goodness you survived the scheduling trauma to tell the tale and more importantly, secure the lunch.
There were signboards all around the property advising there was no access on certain days. But walking is still available in the wider estate and you could still quite easily open the gates and enter…
