I saw a proud mysterious cat
Too proud to catch a mouse or rat -
But catnip she would eat and purr.
And goldfish she did much prefer.
I saw a cat – ’twas but a dream
Who scorned the slave that brought her cream -
Unless the slave were dressed in style
And knelt before her all the while.
Did you ever hear of a thing like that?
Oh, what a proud mysterious cat.

Wow! love that photo. That is the perfect place to live-complete privacy.
The manor house at Snowshill housed a collection of more than 22,000 objects that had been collected by Charles Paget Wade. He and his wife lived in a very small house in the grounds.
You see lots and lots of Catmint at NT properties. Always in excellent condition. Every time I have tried to grow it here..
within hours is is completely ruined, decimated, chewed and rolled on. I now grow it in hanging baskets…the only safe place.
I must admit to never having noticed the Catmint at NT properties. But I do love to visit them often.
That is beautiful!
Glad you like it
Gorgeous pic, place and cat, Cherie. Idyllic spot in which to sit and enjoy all those floral scents. Love the poem, too. Thank you!
I really need to go back and enjoy the calm there. It was raining on the day which the made the flowers so colourful and beautiful, but it meant no chance of sitting on the benches to soak up the atmosphere!
Cats are very much their own “people”.
