A Man in the Shed SillyWeek post:
When I am at work I spend most lunchtimes reading a book in the (supposedly) quiet area outside the conference rooms. Today I was trying to finish the last few pages of my book ‘What on Earth Happened…In Brief’ and sadly it was anything but quiet.
One of the conference room doors was propped open and there was a loud discussion going on about some computer initiative. I had almost tuned it out when I heard the following comment ‘wouldn’t it be great if we sang Christmas songs all year round’. There was a pregnant pause, and the voice continued with ‘we could just substitute the word Christmas for weekend then we could have those happy, feel good cheerful songs all year round’.
Then he burst into song with several examples such as ‘I wish it could be weekend everyday’. The singing stopped when someone asked ‘what about frosty the snowman?’
Hmmm! it could catch on… If it does you heard it here first
PS: I have now finished my book and a review will be coming up soon. On the plus side my copy of the unabridged version which I had on order turned up this morning too. So I have got that to look forward to.
Calm, quiet and Christmas – a winning combination.
Isn’t it just
Haha! I wish I worked where you do!
There are certainly some funny goings on LOL
I laughed at this……the possibilities run wild! Infact will probably be the focus of one of my dreams tonight!
LOL I hope you blog about that
Merry weekend!
Have yourself a merry little weekend
my daughter plays Christmas songs whenever she’s feeling low whatever the time of year!
They are very uplifting and it made me smile when they launched into song.
Are we still allowed “Christmas” songs?
I thought it had to be a “Winterval”
(Oh..doesn’t that word make you cringe?)
I’m certainly not “Dreaming of a White Weekend” that’s for sure!
I don’t care whether we are allowed or not, I shall carry on singing them
Yes Winterval is very cringe making! I am hoping it won’t be a Blue Weekend either
Oh, any excuse for a carol – esp the ancient/trad ones. But Christmas quite commercialised enough as it is, so ‘no’ to even tuneful references out of season: God forbid (harhar ).
Your workplace sounds idyllic: you are allowed to read a book at lunchtime? You mean, they let have a break from work during the day ?
I love Christmas carols and songs and always used to enjoy that time of year when I sung in a choir.
It is rather commercialised and it starts way too soon for me.
They make us have a break after so many hours LOL
Fabulous idea, Cherie!
I wish you a merry supper,
I wish you a merry supper,
I wish you a merry supper
And a happy new potato!
I think we could go on forever with this one couldn’t we?
I Wish It Could Be Saturday Everyday!
Yes I could cope with that idea very well!!!
