This family of moorhens really didn’t want to be photographed. I had to follow them all round the pool, they kept escaping to the opposite side from where I was. There were in fact a few more chicks in the family but they were well hidden in the reeds at the edge of the pond.
One little chick was just a little bit too slow for a determined photographer. You can see the ripples he made on the lilly pad whilst trying to catch up with the others.

Oh to be so light on the feet.
For that you have to have faith
Oh yes it is true faith can move mountain…Happy PH! Mine is ready too.
It certainly can
Lovely ripples, with the moorhens adding to the scene – clever interpretation of the theme, as usual. Moorhens are very shy, aren’t they? So well done for capturing them. I used to spend ages in Dublin watching the moorhen colony on the Grand Canal at Portobello, so you’ve evoked some lovely memories .
These ones were very shy and it was difficult to get round the pond because one of the routes had been blocked by a flood!
I am glad I brought back some happy memories for you. A whole colony of moorhens sounds lovely
How sweet….I love the last photo!!
I tried to think of something that was ‘different’ other than water…
So, HERE is mine The Ripple Effect.
I thought he was rather cute too
oh, how lovely! especially the last photo. made me feel i want to rescue her in fear that she’ll drown ha ha
That one kept lagging behind.
Good photos! Looks warm where you are, tho, with all that algae, ew!
Mine is up! I hope you have a chance to visit.

Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Mecomber
There is algae on all the ponds round here this year, I am not sure why.
I love that last photo too!
Thank You
I almost didn’t spot the little fellow, nice shot. my photo hunt is here Thanks
That is a zoomed in version too
Great photos Cherie. Like the waterlilies too – such huge pads.
The little one is a cutie
Thank You I shall have to find an excuse to post another of my water lilly shots, where you can see the lilies close up too.
Oh that’s lovely! What a little cutie!
I just wish you could have seen them all together
Not only that this is warming what now and then would be thought to be ice-cold – it’s rippling my heart.
How lovely Luckily the moorhens have lots of feathers to keep them warm too.
Great photos, as always. Is there a way to get them enlarged when we see them on Flick’r?
Thank You
If you have Flickr account and let me know your user name I can add you as a contact there and you should be able to see them in a larger format.
What a delight these photos are Cherie. Perfect for the theme and charming in themselves.
Happy weekend to you.
I am glad you enjoyed them
Thank you CherryPie. My user name on Flick’r is Claude29. It will be so interesting to see the larger format of your beautiful sceneries.
Hopefully you should be able to see them now
Wonderful photos. Poor little one!
He was a little slow, all the others had hidden.
