photohunt

This family of moorhens really didn’t want to be photographed. I had to follow them all round the pool, they kept escaping to the opposite side from where I was. There were in fact a few more chicks in the family but they were well hidden in the reeds at the edge of the pond.

One little chick was just a little bit too slow for a determined photographer. You can see the ripples he made on the lilly pad whilst trying to catch up with the others.

Lovely ripples, with the moorhens adding to the scene – clever interpretation of the theme, as usual. Moorhens are very shy, aren’t they? So well done for capturing them. I used to spend ages in Dublin watching the moorhen colony on the Grand Canal at Portobello, so you’ve evoked some lovely memories :-) .

These ones were very shy and it was difficult to get round the pond because one of the routes had been blocked by a flood!

I am glad I brought back some happy memories for you. A whole colony of moorhens sounds lovely :-)

Not only that this is warming what now and then would be thought to be ice-cold – it’s rippling my heart.

Great photos, as always. Is there a way to get them enlarged when we see them on Flick’r?

    • CherryPie says:

      Thank You :-)

If you have Flickr account and let me know your user name I can add you as a contact there and you should be able to see them in a larger format.
