The sculpture that I posted for my Saturday PhotHunt is entitled The Wrestlers and was quite fascinating to look at.
The Wrestlers depict two heroic male figures, one black, one white, at the peak of athletic prowess pitting their strength and skill against each other. This work presents a multitude of different viewpoints and engages the spectator with the relative positions of the intertwined figures.
This picture of one of the hands shows the minute attention to detail.
THanls for this additional information Cherie. It is a superb piece of sculpture
I found it was really lifelike.
You’ve whetted my appetite, Cherie – off to see if I can see all of it, now! Isn’t it intriguing, focusing on one detail of an artwork – especially when carried out by a Good Snapper (that’s you, young lady!).
Aww! thank you, you are so kind
Is the hand supposed to look like it is in water or is that photo taken after a rainfall?
There had been a huge downfall in the morning and I just liked the way the water had collected. I thought it made for an interesting photograph.
Madea a mess of that it did.
It was only rain, which made the flowers look beautiful.
Now I understand the position, and the great physical condition of the participants. It was a bit of a mystery to me on Saturday. I had missed the title of the sculpture. It’s beautiful. Thanks, CherryPie.
I am glad that clarified it for you I thought the information was interesting when I found it. It wasn’t be the statue, I had to find it on the internet when I got home.
I honestly thought the photograph was of a living person, not of a statue (bronze?) … the detail is amazing! I agree, the rain pool around the hand does give the photo an extra edge to it.
Lovely!
The artist is one clever guy isn’t he? I am glad you enjoyed it as much as me
