In the near future I will be doing a series of posts based on some of the places that were significant for the Battle of Flodden. But for now I shall leave you with the following words.

Great shot Cherie. This is such a good choice for the theme!
Thanks Jams
Do Culloden, do Culloden.
Well I do know about Culloden, but I can’t possible post until I have one of my own photos to go with the history
I like the old graveyard. The church has great appeal to the eye.
Excellent take on the theme.
Thanks There will be some photos of the interior soon too
James the English Patriot strikes again. Better to leave Culloden out of it.
Ahh! Colin, I like to try and give a balanced view on British history
I can’t report on Culloden. Even though I have visited I don’t have the photograph to go with my post
This is a wonderful entry
So glad you like it
You did not mention Culloden, CherryPie. Thus, nothing against you and this post.
According to Culloden, though: I am with Colin.
I will be writing a bit more on Flodden soon but as you say I will be keeping Culloden out of it. Some books do compare the two, but that is more from a military point of view than anything else.
What an atmospheric photo — and one that takes me back to the times I spent in England so many years ago now!
I hope they were happy times
Interesting to learn a bit of English History with your photos, CherryPie. In those days, when a leader declared war to another country, he fought in that war, and some (like James 1V of Scotland) died in it. I wish today’s leaders would have to be in the heat of the wars that they declare. Maybe they would think twice…
Times do seem to have changed in that respect and the weapons these days are even more deadly.
AH; Culloden, I remember it well (Yes I am that old):)
Your looking very well for you age
Interesting take on the theme, Cherie. Now looking forward to seeing/learning more about Flodden Field. Have a great w/e.
The field itself has a certain something about it and it is remarkable peaceful there.
Great idea of the theme. Happy hunting dear.
Thank you I shall be doing the rounds shortly
beautifully composed and shot
I thought it was quite interesting
Great idea and a perfect take on the theme!
I had a few different choices for today, but thought I would go with this one as it fits in with my holiday posts
Good choice for the theme
Glad you think so.
I second a Culloden post Cherie. You could draw a picture.
This is a lovely church- what year was it built?
At Land’s End I saw a church from year 1000 ad and it was still being used for regular service.
The one you see in the picture was built in 1849 on the site of the previous ancient church.
The one you saw, seems amazing
Lovely picture!
I am glad you find it interesting
Lovely photo and place. It looks quite remote.
It is very remote and quite tranquil there.
It looks very remote. And yes, Culloden must come next.
Are you encouraging me to take a special trip to get the photographs?
It was so small like a small house really. I took a photo but lost the film before it was printed.
It sounds lovely, what a shame you lost the film.
What a wonderful choice for this theme. Look forward to the other posts on this topic.
Have a good week since the weekend has passed.
Thank You, I think I might do them some time next week. I have so much material from the holiday I am not sure which to do first!
