Although it thawed yesterday the snow hadn’t quite finished with us after all. When I got up this morning the world was completely white again and the estate roads looked rather dodgy. I figured the main roads would be fine, they usually are but I was wrong, it seemed like they hadn’t been gritted even though the council claim they had.
I had to avoid my usual route into work because the radio had announced there had been an accident a there was a four mile tail back. There were cars everywhere and it took me 45 minutes to do a 10 minute journey, the wheels on my car lost traction on several occasions. I was late and so were a lot of other people, the car park was half empty when I arrived and lots of people arrived after me.
This I was presented with some other news which had incensed everyone but I think I will leave off commenting about that…
The picture was taken before Christmas but it gives a good impression of what it was like today.
Is that all? We had another 15 centimetre snow today, and some weather fogs foretell winter won’t leave before April.
Well rather lots of snow than lots of slush.
That is all there was by me and at work there was a little more. It was the slushy roads that were a problem, driving on snow is much easier.
I still think we have some more to come
Yes, winter is lovely … as long as one does not have to drive.
The problem with the driving is all those other idiots on the road
The snow god has forgotten us. Some people say we’re punished for unknown sins…Some people say we’re protected for being the best in the world…Bon courage to all of you.;-)
I think the snow God is taking it in turns. I think last year the snow was plentiful with you
and so we wait and see…
glad to say no more snow for us yet and i hope it stays that way.
glad to hear you kept safe
I think there is still a little more snow on the way for us before the winter is done!
It is amazing how just a little snow can bring out the worst in other people’s driving. Be safe enjoy the snow.
Yes some people are really crazy in the snow. It has all gone for now and we have rain again.
I saw gritter out on Sunday but Telford and Bridgnorth had a further snowstorm that melted about 7pm. That immediately froze really hard and then it snowed over the top. Just about the worst scenario you can possibly get! Even ski’s would have been useless on that ice
It certainly was a lethal combination and very difficult to drive on. I still think we might have a bit more in February.
Commuting is grim, Cherie.
If all goes to plan later this year my workplace is moving closer too me so it should be a bit easier for me.
