This central courtyard dates from the 1280s:
As early as the 14th century, cisterns were installed beneath it, to which water was supplied for the castle from springs in the park. The yard was totally refurbished in the 1920s by Lady Baillie’s designer Rateau. *

What a beautiful place!
I love Leeds Castle.
Thanks for dropping by. It was my first visit there and I will go back
Back then, it was like an annual ticket.
So I went back again, a month before my ticket expired! Ha!
It still is an annual ticket but I live 5 hours away… I do hope for a return visit in the summer or autumn though
A lovely courtyard! Was the fountain added after – that is the cord laying in view for the pump is it not? Oh…or is it for lighting?
I am not sure when the fountain was added. There was even more piping and wiring from the other side which I managed to hide by taking it from this angle.
