I took the short questionnaire to discover my ancient Athenian guru:

Your recommended philosophy-guru is ARISTOTLE.

Key fact: The star pupil of Plato.

Must have: A desire to study the world and see what it reveals.

Key promise: The good life, which comes from living a virtuous life.

Key peril: The virtuous life can be tough.

Most likely to say: “Everything has its proper place.”

Least likely to say: “Science is where humanity went wrong.”

H/T Steve Hayes.

Not sure the mirror was such a good idea.

  2. Epicurus for me which is a shame a I had already prepared my barrel!

  3. H. insciens says:

Zeno of Cintium, “founder of Stoicism” is my man, apparently. Hmmm. I don’t know much about him other than some stuff about the universe being conscious and Pantheism … and his stoicism…Interesting, the questionnaire might be on to something, I have had a lot to be stoical about, at times…. I will investigate

  4. Mine is this:

Your recommended philosophy-guru is ZENO OF CITIUM.

Key fact: He taught in a stoa, the Athenian supermarket, and hence founded the school of philosophy called Stoicism.

Must have: An interest in everyday life, for it is there that you learn life’s big lessons.

Key promise: An ability to face anything, no matter how disastrous.

Key peril: To be “stoical” is to turn your back on passion.

Most likely to say: “If you have integrity, no-one can harm you.”

Least likely to say: “Forget prudence! It won’t help you anyway.”

Another Zeno of Citium here CP, maybe we should start a “Zeno” club, although if we all thought the same way it wouldn’t be very “interesting”:)

  6. Marcie says:

Such fun! Turns out I’m ‘Epicurious’. Thank-you for the link!!!

  7. H. insciens says:

I assumed my (our) Zeno was Zeno of Zeno’s Paradox, but apparently that was Zeno of Elia. I also notice some sites call my Zeno Zeno of Cintium and others Zeno of Citium. How many Zenos were there? Multiple Zenos in multiple worlds? Further investigation warranted by the growing Zeno club.

  8. Janice says:

Add one more to the Zeno club…some of it is applicable and some not at all.

  9. Chrissy says:

I am the same as Marcie and it fits quite well :-)

  10. Ha ha! How come everyone is in Zeno?
    Come and join us.
You can be the president! ;)
I’d rather be the janitor. Ha ha…
