…for a Royal Wedding.

I hadn’t intended watching the Wedding because I don’t like all the commentary that goes with such occasions, but things changed.  When I logged onto my computer to check my email I had received one that directed me to the Royal YouTube Channel.  Out of curiosity I checked it out and found the events were being broadcast live, courtesy of the BBC, but without the additional commentary.  I really enjoyed watching the occasion and, afterwards, decided that  going out for lunch was a must :-)

I set off to one of my favourite places, for coffee and walnut cake; it was a special occasion after all.  When I arrived, I realised that I was in for an additional treat.  The bluebells are now in full flower and some of you know how much I love to walk through bluebell woods.  It was a lovely afternoon and a lovely walk, which was topped off by bumping into a couple of friends I hadn’t seen for ages.  This was another of those little coincidences; we had been in touch earlier in the week to arrange a meal out together because it had been so long since we had seen each other.

Also it was nice to see that some neighbours had organised a ‘front garden party’ with a barbecue to celebrate the Royal event.  I think everyone was invited which was nice. I will bear that in mind for the Diamond Jubilee next year ;-)

A Carpet of Blue

It doubt it was by chance that the background blue accentuated the depth of this excellent shot, CP.

I love your bluebells Cherie and all of their surroundings….what a fine place to have your coffee and walnut cake….thank you for sharing this with me…..have an enjoyable weekend….peter:)

  3. So lovely!
Did you know these are actually the invasive Spanish bluebells not your (should I say “our”?;) ) native English bluebells?

I love bluebells, they have both sorts at Attingham. I may do a post on the differences between them, there is a little humorous quote from the park warden.

I think these are the native bluebells, I should have taken a close up of them. The Spanish ones were located in a different part of the estate.

These are our native bluebells, I recognise the spot. I don’t think too many of our woods in Shropshire have the invasive Spanish ones…. although, I do have some in my garden (prior to our arrival)! so know them well. Lovely photo Cherie, I do have some close-ups too….from today. Oh, and yes we also had Coffee and walnut cake, LOL. It is my favourite :) I caught 5 minutes of the wedding….then went a chose a few more highlights to watch after the hype.

Thanks Chrissy, it seems you comment got through OK once my blog sorted itself out. It is my favourite cake too, especially the National Trust recipe :-)

I look forward to seeing the rest of your photos :-)

Attingham is one of my favourite places to visit :-) I must go again soon to catch the latest developments of the walled garden which wasn’t very far advanced when I last looked at it a couple of weeks ago.
