The climb up to the top of the 32 metre watch tower is well worth it. The magnificent view over Wensleydale takes in Penn Hill to the south, Bishopdale and Walden to the south west and Middleham Castle to the south east.

I am so glad you find my journeys inspirational and interesting. If you are ever over my way in Shropshire, give me a shout. I would love to spend some time sharing some favourite places of mine with you :-)

That would be lovely Cherie, After we’ve had our trip to Crookham and hopefully, the weather settles, ie, no rain, we’ll drive over to Shropshire and enjoy visiting some of your favourite places with you, it’s only about an hour’s drive away.
My Godfather lived in Minsterley and used to talk of the ‘rambling hills of Shropshire’. Many years ago, when i was fourteen, I had a Church of England Summer School holiday at a girls boarding school called St Margarets…happy days!
Looking forward to meeting you in the not too distant future,
        Kind regards,
        Di,,xx

Will you still do that climb in 20 years, Cherie?

Incredible! Thank you so much for doing the climbing for me. I’m sure that you would help me up if I would be with you. But the photos are so marvellous! It’s very much like being there…without the wind.

Luckily the climb was in stages, there were some nice interesting rooms to see on the way up. Plenty of time for a little rest along the way ;-)
