Twin Towers

The whole day was spent in and around the walled citadel.  This involved walking around the entire circuit around the outside of the walls, exploring inside the walls, a visit to Saint-Nazaire Cathedral and the castle.  I will be posting more fully about all these places soon.

This heavy walking schedule caused my shoes to rub the back of my heels and no plasters were to be found… I tried to improvise by placing tissue in the back of my shoe, which proved a little difficult.  All of a sudden I heard a voice calling and as I turned to look and a very kind lady presented me with two plasters.  Later in the day a bought some espadrilles (which I had spotted the day before), they were much easier on my feet.

For lunch I had the obligatory crepe.  The food was nice but the service left a lot to be desired!  For my evening meal I went to the Adelaide and interestingly sat next to a couple from Adelaide…

Apart from the blisters, you really found a gorgeous place in France for your vacation, Cherry. I love how it’s unfolding before our eyes.

It is a truly wonderful location :-) The problem is that all my nice trusty comfortable shoes wore out… I can’t find any replacements over here, I need to go somewhere where they make proper shoes…

You must have been exhausted by the end of that.

    What a beautiful place!

The uneven streets don’t help the walking situation either. However what a great place to walk around and your countryside drive sounds beautiful and quite an adventure.

    It looks interesting.
I learned a valuable lesson the hard way in Lisbon during February. Compromising on the amount of footwear I packed, I thought my footwear would be ok but the city has beautiful, small irregular but uncomfortable ( by day two) street tiles everywhere.

My favorite pair of sandals fell apart a week before I went to Carcassone and unfortunately I couldn’t find anything suitable to replace them. I think I need to go to Italy they have wonderful shoes there.
