This is a wonderful image of the ancient wall of Lucerne as well as the your pictures inside the city Cherie….peter:)
Glad you like them, photos don’t really do them justice.
Nothing like a good, solid wall with its ramparts…and gable stones, Cherry!
Nice to look at, although I didn’t find it quite as much fun walking on them
This looks so idyllic with the trees and all the green. A wonderful place to visit. I saw that it is a 7 hours drive from our town……
Great pictures and you give a fabulous impression of the city.
It was a lovely place to go for a morning stroll. You should take the drive, you would love it there
Once upon a time such walls kept Brigands out. Now the brigands are in the town halls. And they are still building walls – of red and green tape.
I think there may have been a few brigands inside the walls too. But not so much red and green tape
Beautiful architecture. Modern buildings just can’t compete with the craftsmanship and creativity of bygone eras. It’s one of the things I love most about England, that an the gardens.
Thanks for showing us the photos, Cherie.
I don’t suppose the modern buildings will still be standing after all that amount of time either.
Beautiful but not sure if I’d want to have lived in those days.
Nor me. I am currently reading a book that is reminding me of some of the horrors.
I like the way they topped the roof with a guard!
Ha ha the cone shaped roof makes him look like as if he’s wearing a skirt?!
The plume on his head for some obscure reason reminds my of a chimney sweep!
great shots of the city walls and the towers.
Glad you like them
