Well, to me it seems to be tiny bit more complex a matter.
It does to me too
‘Tis a problem when some famous chap is quoted without context. Quite often they appear to be …how shall we say… ‘limited’. But don’t quote me.
The quote is the one used underneath the statue. I feel it falls short of the man he was. His scientific explorations caused him great conflict, he felt they were not compatible with his religious convictions.

I would say the comments and discussions are perhaps better than the quotes
Interesting quote and comments…I’ll take my cue from nature and life before science although science fascinates me.
Darwin took his clue from nature too. It was by observing nature that he came up with his theories.
